Shadow and Light Theater Workshops
I Dream of Shadows
For ages 5 and up
We will explore the principals and techniques of the shadow puppetry art by playing with lights, gestures and objects. Participants will learn to express feelings, dreams and ideas through shadows.
Participants
will make an acetate puppet and bring it to life though the manipulation of its
projected shadow on different surfaces.
This workshop is the perfect compliment to our shadow puppet show
"I Laid an Egg."
Poetry through Shadows
For ages 12 and up
We will enhance students connection to poetry through the use of shadow puppetry.
Participants will create shadow landscapes by using their
bodies, objects and shadow masks. They will develop a character, through the inspiration of a poem, and in
culmination they will combine the use of light, body, and mask to tell a
story. This workshop is the perfect compliment to our shadow puppet show "A Chance Shadow."
Puppetry in the Classroom
For educators
We will investigate how we can use shadow puppetry as a tool in the classroom, library or story time programs. Learn to make a simple shadow puppet, shadow mask and discuss how we can use shadow puppetry to enhance the schools' curriculum.
